Executive, HR - Sordid Sex Scandal Shakes Seven Stars
A sex scandal involving Seven Network CEO Tim Worner has spilled over to include four other female employers including two onscreen presenters, and the network is taking legal action to keep their names under wraps.
This circus began earlier in the week when Amber Harrison, former executive assistant to Chief Operating Officer Nick Chan, revealed she had an affair with the married father of four Mr. Worner from 2012 through 2014. Worner admitted he had the affair, but things went a little further. Ms. Harrison alleged that she and Worner had used cocaine. Fairfax media reported that he reportedly denied taking the drug during work time when questioned about it by the Seven board.
"What I did was wrong," Worner wrote in a statement to his staff. "What I did is certainly not a reflection of the standards of the shareholders, the chairman, the board, or any of you. You are entitled to, and I hope expect, better decisions from me."
Harrison also alleged Worner had affairs four other affairs with Seven staff members. Those women - one of whom is an actress, and the other on-air talent for the news - and Worner all deny the allegations. But a blogger decided to name them, and Seven went to the NSW Supreme Court (and definitely not to a Kangaroo Court) to put the toothpaste back into the tube and protect the identities of the women now referred to as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2.
The blogger has already ignored one court order to delete the names from a blog post, and on Friday failed to show up in court. So the case will be continued until next year, and the network will conduct an internal investigation into the allegations.
