Tesla CEO Elon Musk says his company has already gotten 115,000 orders for its new Model 3 hatchback, the company's first "affordable" all electric car.  That represents more than US$4 Billion in sales.  You'll probably be seeing one of these pretty soon, because hundreds of those orders came from Australia - including the very first order.

Sydneysider Andreas Stephens waited outside the Tesla dealership in Saint Leonards for 48 hours, just to be first in line to pre-order the car, expected to retail for about A$45,000 in 2018.  That's way down from the six-figure price tag on previous Tesla Models S and X, which have kept the line's groundbreaking advances out of the hands of families.  But Mr. Musk says the order of development was necessary:  "The revenue from the S and the X was needed to develop the Model 3," he said.

The Model 3 is a glass-roof, highly-aerodynamic, hatchback-style sedan, with auto-pilot software.  Mr. Musk says it will go 215 miles/340+ kilometers on a single charge.
