Hackers robbed a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange of more than US$32 Million, but the company confirmed that it will reimburse users.

Seoul-based Bithumb said in a statement that there will be "no damage" to its customers as a consequence of this week's theft.  The company emphasized its strict separation of customer and company assets, the latter of which it says are stored in cold wallets.  The hackers reportedly took the $32 Million from the company's hot wallet two days ago, but Bithumb told customers it expects the loss to be less than that.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported that police officers have launched an investigation and collected records from computers at the company's headquarters.

This is not the first time that Bithumb has been breached.  Last July, it acknowledged an employee's PC had been hacked, which exposed users' personal details.  After the way the stolen information was used to carry out online scams, South Korea's intelligence agency blamed North Korea for the hack.
