Government - Hugh Grant Destroys Boris Johnson
Not only does actor Hugh Grant have a social media presence, but he used it to unleash a profanity-laced post that flame-broils UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's handling of the Brexit.
"You will not f__k with my children's future. You will not destroy the freedoms my grandfather fought two world wars to defend. F__k off you over-promoted rubber bath toy. Britain is revolted by you and (your) little gang of masturbatory prefects," Grant tweeted Wednesday.
The actor was replying to Johnson's explanation for why he had sought the Queen's permission to suspend Parliament for a month, effectively hacking away at the amount of time Commons has to work on Brexit; with his enemies sidelined, Johnson can take the UK out of the European Union on 31 October as scheduled, even if there are no agreements in place to mitigate the economic chaos that could follow a no-deal Brexit.
Other critics likened Johnson, who did not win a national election to get his job, to a dictator for short-circuiting democracy in order to push through a seismic policy change that has no support in Parliament.
