Fascist demagogue Donald Trump struck a nationalist tone in his first speech to the US Congress, careening from announcing a propaganda task force to sully immigrants, to finally speaking about anti-immigrant and anti-Semitic violence, to hiding behind a widow he created.

The orange clown said he asked the Department of Homeland Security to create a new office with the acronym VOICE: Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement, which sounds like something from a comic book drawn by xenophobes.  Voice would work with US immigration cops to find "known victims of crimes committed by removable aliens," presumably to highlight specific crimes when immigrants were involved.  Critics immediately noted the ominous nature of a wing of law enforcement dedicated to dirtying the image of a vulnerable section of the US population.

Trump didn't explain what makes crimes committed by immigrants any worse than the numerous crimes committed by US citizens.  But he did finally mention some of those other crimes.  He condemned attacks against Jews and Indian immigrants, calling them examples of "hate and evil."

"Recent threats targeting Jewish Community Centers and vandalism of Jewish cemeteries, as well as last week's shooting in Kansas City, remind us that while we may be a nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all its forms," Trump read from the teleprompter.

In Olathe, Kansas (not Kansas City), a cretin shot two tech engineers from India, killing one.  Witnesses said 51-year-old Adam Purinton yelled, "Get out of my country!"  In Saint Louis and Philadelphia, vandals did terrible damage to Jewish Cemeteries, and a series of bomb threats have forced the evacuations of Jewish Community Centers across the US.  None of these crimes have been directly linked to Trump, but occur in parallel to his occupation of the White House and nationalist rhetoric, and the increasing boisterousness of racist groups who idolize Trump for some of teh past, horrible things he said about minorities.

Trump also reference his guest to the address, Carryn Owens.  She is the widow of US Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William "Ryan" Owens, who died during the botched 29 January raid in Yemen that missed its target, but killed Owens plus more than two dozen civilians including children.  Trump approved the raid, which had been rejected by the previous Obama Administration.

"We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens," he said.  "Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero, battling against terrorism and securing our nation."  But not every member of Owens' family is enamored with Trump.  Owens' father Bill has demanded an investigation of his son's death.  Bill Owens accused the Trump administration of using his son's death for political gain.

"Don’t hide behind my son's death to prevent an investigation," Mr. Owens said earlier this week.  "The (US) government owes my son an investigation."
