Logistics, Trades - Drakes To Build SA Facility
The City of Playford in South Australia has given planning concent to one of Australia's largest independent grocery retailers plans to build a state-of-the-art $80 Million distribution centre.
The Drakes Distribution Centre is expected to create 550 jobs: Tradies should look for up to 300 during construction, followed by a further 120 to 250 full-time equivalent positions once the centre is due to be operational by June 2019. The facility will include more than $12 million of robotics as part of a high tech warehouse picking system.
"This is a major investment in the sustainable future of Drakes Supermarkets in South Australia," said Drakes General Manager Bob Soang, "It's also a long-term investment and vote of confidence in our loyal customers and suppliers.
