The lead detective in the Oscar Pistorius murder is himself facing attempted murder charges in an unrelated case.  Olympic sprinter Pistorius is denying charges he deliberately shot and killed his girlfriend Reeve Steenkamp.

Detective Hilton Botha and two other officers allegedly were drunk when they opened fire on a minibus taxi loaded with passengers.  This reportedly happened in 2009.

The charges were filed, then dropped, and for unknown reasons re-filed.  The three officers are due in court in May.

Some observers believe that Botha harmed the prosecutors’ case against Pistorius by changing details of his testimony while being questioned in court this week.

Pistorius says he accidentally shot and killed Model and TV personality Reeva Steenkamp after mistaking her for a burglar hiding in his bathroom.
