Sri Lankan authorities have arrested several suspects after bombs tore through churches and hotels on Easter Sunday, killing at least 207 people and injuring 450 more.  At least eight explosions rocked churches in Negombo, Batticaloa, and the capital Colombo's Kochchikade district; targets also included the Shangri-La, Kingsbury, and Cinnamon Grand luxury hotels.  Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that Sri Lanka would "take stern action against all those who are responsible for these attacks regardless of their stature".  There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.  Sri Lanka hasn't seen this sort of bloodshed since the end of the civil war ten years ago.

Opposition candidate Volodymyr Zelensky has won Ukraine's presidential run-off election with a landslide victory.  Exit polls suggest the former TV comedian got 70 percent of the vote in a crushing public verdict on President Petro Poroshenko and corruption in Kiev.  "I'm not yet officially the president," the 41-year old told supporters, "But as a citizen of Ukraine I can say to all countries in the post-Soviet Union:  Look at us.  Anything is possible!"

Protesters in Sudan are rejecting the military ruling council that took power after deposing and jailing ex-president Omar al-Bashir.  Thousands have gathered outside army headquarters in Khartoum to demand a civilian council take power from the military, which they consider to be "an extension" of the Bashir regime.  The military claims to be committed to a return to civilian rule, but has spoke of putting off elections for two years.

Police in Northern Ireland have released two teens without charges, a day after they were arrested in connection with the death of journalist Lyra McKee.  She was shot with what was believed to be stray gunfire when police clashed with Irish nationalists in Derry - but be reiterating their plea for members of the public to provide information, police seem to be acknowledging the teens aren't involved and they don't have a lead right now.  Ms. McKee's funeral is later this week in Belfast.

The Arab League is pledging US$100 Million a month to the Palestinian Authority (PA) to make up for the funds Israel is withholding because the PA made payments to the families of Palestinian attackers and prisoners.  Under an agreement, Israel collects taxes in Palestinian areas and disburses the money back to the PA.  Speaking at a summit of Arab foreign ministers in Egyptian capital of Cairo, PA President Mahmoud Abbas reaffirmed his commitment to a two-state solution at the 1967 borders of Israel and the Palestinian territories; he also accused Donald Trump of "mocking" the Palestinians by moving the US Embassy to the disputed city of Jerusalem.
