Two Australians are among those caught in the London Terrorist attack, in which three men armed with knives killed seven innocent civilians before they were gunned down by police.  Authorities say 48 people are injured, including 21 who are "fighting for their lives".  One of those recovering is identified as Brisbane native Candice Hedge, who is recovering in hospital after surgery on a stab wound to her neck - luckily, the cowardly terrorists who attacked her from behind missed her major arteries and windpipe.  "Hey everyone, just so you know I'm doing OK," she wrote on social media, "Bit of pain but I will survive."  The government was still in the process of identifying the other Australian.  Additionally, Oliver Dowling from Christchurch, New Zealand is recovering from multiple stab wounds to his face, neck, and stomach.

The attack began around 10:00 PM London time when the attackers in a rented van plowed across London Bridge, striking several people before crashing it on a sidewalk.

From there, the three men armed with long knives rushed to the Borough Market, a popular dining and drinking area, stabbing and slashing at anyone in their path.  Police began evacuating diners, sending hundreds fleeing down streets as cordons were erected.  One man garnered particular adoration for refusing to abandon his beer, symbolizing cheeky London humor and a resistance to the goals of the terrorists (on the right in the red shirt).

Eight armed police officers arrived within eight minutes of the first emergency called and fired an "unprecedented" number of rounds, killing all of the suspects.

Met Police in Sunday afternoon saied they were making progress identifying the attackers.  Earlier, they had arrested twelve suspects in a block of flats in the East London Barking neighborhood in connection with Saturday night's attack.

Police are continuing their searches in Barking and other locations.

Condemning the attack, UK Prime Minister Theresa May said it was "time to say enough is enough".  This is the third terrorist attack of her time in office, and the third in three months:  The Westminster attack was on 22 March, and the Manchester Concert bombing was just two weeks ago on 22 May.  But the PM's assertion that there had been "far too much tolerance of extremism" in the UK was resisted by political leaders:  Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood noted that Ms. May has been Prime Minister for a year, and Home Secretary for six years before that:  "Since 2010 she has been in a position to do something about this," Ms. Wood said, "doesn't she need to take some responsibility for that?"

Since the attacks, the UK's real allies expressed their support:  Australian Prime Minister Malcolm said his "prayers and resolute solidarity" were with the British.  "New Zealand's thoughts are with the victims of today's attack," said Kiwi PM Bill English.  French President Emmanuel Macron said "France is more than ever at Britain's side" and his country will "continue to fight terrorism with all its powers, alongside the United Kingdom and all affected countries".  German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, the Pope - even Russia's Vladimir Putin sent his "deepest condolences".

But the current occupant of the White House couldn't be bothered to express decency and support to America's closest ally.  Donald Trump used the tragedy in London to issue a call for his travel ban on people from a short list of predominantly Muslim countries, a ban now bogged down in the courts because of its unconstitutional nature.  Trump also took a statement from London Mayor Sadiq Khan out of context:  Khan told Londoners that there is "no reason to be alarmed" about the increased police presence in the British capital over the next few days;  Trump was roundly condemned for twisting that and writing: "At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!"'

Mayor Sadiq Khan's team made clear they had no time to deal with Trump's self-serving and bigoted childishness.  "The Mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services and the government to co-ordinate the response to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack and provide leadership and reassurance to Londoners and visitors to our city," Mr. Khan's spokesperson added. The Mayor invited Londoners to "come together in solidarity" to remember the victims of the latest terror attack in the capital in Potters Fields Park, a green space outside City Hall and near the scene of the attacks at 6:00 PM London Time on Monday.
