Good Morning Australia!! - The Gay Marriage plebiscite goes before the party room today - Newly discovered wreckage might point to a cause to whatever downed MH370 - If the world is a burning cinder a year from now, blame the US corporate media - And more in your CareerSpot Global News Briefs:

Coalition MPs are expected to sign off on an 11 February plebiscite on Gay Marriage when the matter is put to them in the party room meeting today.  The cabinet wants to allocate AU$7.5 Million each for the "yes" and "no" campaigns.  This pretty much puts the fate of the plebiscite into Labor's hands, and opposition leader Bill Shorten appeared to strengthen his argument against putting human rights up to a popularity contest.  Most advocates for marriage equality say that Parliament ought to vote on the matter, since decided things is what they're elected and paid to do.

Wreckage found on the coast of Madagascar has been turned over to Australian investigators to determine if it came off of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.  American attorney Blaine Gibson found the items and says they resemble side panels from a Boeing 777.  They appear to be scorched as well, and if verified would add evidence to the theory that MH370 suffered a fire of some sort on 8 March 2014, when it veered off of its Kuala Lumpur to Beijing run towards an unknown spot in the Indian Ocean with 239 passengers and crew including six Australians.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said early reports indicated there has been "some reduction in violence" in the first hours after the latst Syrian Civil War cease-fire brokered by the US and Russia came into effect.  If calm lasts for seven days, then the US and Russia would begin working on joint strikes against the Al Qaeda-linked Al Nusra Front (or whatever the hell it's called this week).  The two major powers oppose Al Jusra and the so-called Islamic State, but are opposite sides when it comes to the Syrian government and allegedly "moderate" rebel groups.

The nationality of a baby born on a Medecins Sans Frontieres refugee rescue boat in the Mediterranean is in question, because little Newman Otas made his debut while the rescue ship was still in international waters.  Rescuers had just plucked his Nigerian mum - plus dad and and two siblings - off of a rubber dinghy in the moments before she went into labor.  Thousands of African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian refugees are still trying to make the dangerous sea crossing to an increasingly chilly Europe - more than 3,700 have died this year.

Police in Florida believe a mosque in Fort Pierce was deliberately set on fire in a hate crime likely to coincide with the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.  Orlando nightclub gunman Omar Mateen attended the same mosque before committing America's worst civilian mass shooting in June at the Pulse LGBT nightclub, killing 49 people.  The Council on American-Islamic Relations says that despite themosque having nothing to do with the crime, it is frequently targeted with abuse and violence, usually in the form of shouted insults from speeding cars - but also an assault of a man walking out of the facility.

A German right-wing politician is smugly basking in her "what are you going to do about it?" glow, after using a word invoking the country's racist nazi past.  "Voelkisch", meaning "people's" or "national", is not a conversational word because of its association with the nazis of the 1930s, who used it to set Germans apart from Jews and others they labelled "racially inferior".  Frauke Petry of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), an increasingly racist and xenophobic right wing party, used it and defended its use in interviews, drawing a stinging rebuke from journalist Kai Biermann who said:  "The term 'voelkisch' is a synonym for extreme nationalism and even for racism. To this day it is a symbol of Nazism and its ideology of eradicating and killing anything non-German."

Speaking of nazi scum, Donald Trump today defended his support base against Hillary Clinton's allegation that some are irredeemable racists and bigots making up a basket of deplorables.  Of course, she's right and there's no shortage of proof.  But instead of covering Trump's open courting of racists and the Republican party's refusal to disavow them, the US corporate media is obsessed with Hillary's pneumonia.  In their misogynist attempt to find some sort of scandal on Hillary, America's alleged "journalists" allowed Trump to get away with claiming insane conspiracies regarding US monetary policy and telling a dozen demonstrable lies.

After losing his Prime Ministership to the Brexit vote, David Cameron is now stepping out of Parliament altogether.
