US billionaire Donald Trump declared his candidacy for the White House as a republican, but he already tripped over his own comb-over.  After he strode out on stage backed by the song “Rockin’ In The Free World”, legendary musician Neil Young asked Trump to knock it off.

“Donald Trump was not authorized to use ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement,” Young’s team said in a statement. “Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for president of the United States of America.”  Bernie Sanders is the only open Socialist in the US Congress and running against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

That Trump would use a song that harshly criticizes conservative republican economic policies is not surprising, because Republican presidential candidates don’t seem to understand the lyrics or just don’t care.  Already this year, the Swedish duo Axwell and Ingrosso asked Senator Marco Rubio to stop using the electronic tune “Something New”, and the punk rock band Dropkick Murphys asked Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to stop using their music at his campaign stops – famously adding the message, “We literally hate you.”

John Mellencamp has repeatedly had to tell Scott Walker and other republicans to stop using his music, particularly “Small Town”.  Rage Against The Machine’s guitar genius Tom Morello was aghast when Walker’s buddy Rep. Paul Ryan from Wisconsin declared his love for RATM’s music, completely failing to comprehend the fact that Ryan and Walker’s ultra-right wing, pro-billionaire economic policies are the very machine Tom is raging against.

Noted Feminists Heart asked empty-headed social conservative Sarah Palin to stop using “Barracuda”.  In fact, the republicans have not seemed to learn from these mistakes that began more than 30 years ago when President Ronald Reagan used Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” as his background music – oblivious to the fact that the rails against war and the military-industrial complex that Reagan personified.
