Actor Harrison Ford crashed his vintage single-engine plane onto a golf course near Santa Monica in southern California. He suffered multiple gashes to his head in the crash, was taken to a local hospital and is in “fair to moderate” condition. A source close to Harrison Ford’s family told a local TV station, “He’s fine, has a few gashes.”
The 72-year old Ford was flying solo, had reported engine trouble after taking off from Santa Monica Municipal Airport, and may have been coming around for a landing. Elaine Miller was playing a round on the Penmar Golf Course, just a stone’s throw from the runway, when Ford tore up the fairway.
“He was able to speak, he expressed that he was in pain, which was no surprise,” Miller said. “He had a significant head wound. He asked someone to hold his legs up, and people were just saying, ‘you’re okay, the fire department is on its way.’”
Ford has a couple of irons in the fire right now. He’s currently involved in the latest Star Wars movie, reprising his role as the space adventurer Han Solo. He suffered an accident on the set of that one, setting production back a few weeks. He also just agreed to a sequel to his other sci-fi classic “Blade Runner”, and there was talk of another “Indiana Jones” movie.
