Hong Kong authorities arrested seven police officers who were caught on video last month beating up a pro-democracy protest leader.  The two inspectors and five junior officers had already been suspended from the force.

“The complaint is being handled by the Special Investigation Team of the Complaints Against Police Office in a criminal investigation.  Collection of evidence and investigation of the case is ongoing,” a Hong Kong police spokesman said.  “Police will seek advice from the Department of Justice when the investigation is completed.”

The TV channel TVB aired the video of the cops assaulting Civic Party member “Ken” Tsang Kin-chiu last month, after a series of scuffles along Lung Wo Road in the Tamar district.  The cops dragged a handcuffed Tsang into a secluded, darkened area of Tamar Parked and gave him a going over for about four minutes.

Tsang later showed media bruises on his face and pulled up his T-shirt to show injuries to his neck, chest and back.
