Israeli jets pounded at least ten targets near Damascus International Airport and the town of Dimas in Syria.  A report out of Lebanon claims the targets were high value sites linked to the intelligence service of Syria’s only friend in the region, Iran.

Syrian state TV condemned Israel for the raid, and called it “direct aggression”.  Israel would not confirm the operation, saying it does not comment on “foreign reports”.  But Israel has struck at Syria several times during the civil war, mostly targeting missiles and other weapons that Syria is said were destined for their longtime foe Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the Syrian conflict, said that residents heard ten explosions near Dimas, which is located close to the Syria-Lebanon border.  The group also said that there had been eight air raids on areas in the town of Khan al-Sheeh, on the eastern outskirts of the capital, and that a warehouse near Damascus airport had been hit.
