A group of western tourists remains in custody in Malaysia, accused of posing for a nude photo on Mount Kinabalu, considered sacred by local officials who have been quoted saying that the prank may have caused the earthquake that killed 18 climbers last week.
The young western tourists range in age from 22 to 24-years old. They are a brother and sister from Canada, a British Woman, and a Dutch man. A court ordered them held until Saturday while authorities actually investigate the idiotic and superstitious allegations. Police say they are still looking for the remaining six people who posed in the photo.
The father of British tourist Eleanor Hawkins told the Guardian Newspaper that he is extremely worried about her.
“I would like to appeal to the Malaysian authorities. I have got every faith in their judicial system. I just hope they don’t make an example of them after the tragic earthquake.”
