US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents in Colombia had “sex parties” with prostitutes hired by the very drug cartels the agents were supposed to be terminating. This is according to a report released by the Justice Department’s watchdog.
“Although some of the DEA agents participating in these parties denied it, the information in the case file suggested they should have known the prostitutes in attendance were paid with cartel funds,” according to the 131-page report (.pdf link)by Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz.
It further states that of the ten DEA agents accused, seven of them admitted having attended the parties, which took place an agent’s quarters leased by the US government. Colombian cops also say the cartels provided the DEA agents with cash, gifts, and weapons. Some of these agents had top-secret security clearances. Their punishments were suspension of two to ten days, which I believe is the definition of “slap on the wrist”.
