The British Nuclear Submarine HMS Tireless, aptly named for the task on hand, has arrived in the Indian Ocean to join the search for missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370. The HMS Echo survey ship is also there. But Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston is cautioning that the search could take weeks.
“This search and recovery mission is the most challenging I’ve ever seen,” Houston said at the helm of the new Joint Agency Co-ordination Centre (JACC), adding, “It’s not something that will necessarily be resolved in the next two weeks, for example.”
ACM Houston also confirmed that Australia would soon be deploying an E-7A Wedgetail to act as a flying air traffic controller over the Indian Ocean. Houston And PM Tony Abbott will greet and give a briefing to Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak who travels to Perth today to get a closer look at the Search operation, and to thank the crews taking part.
