Human Rights activists say Syrian air strikes killed 16 people in a village in the Kurdish northern region. A government shelling attack also toppled the minaret of a historic mosque.
Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights posted a video on YouTube showing the collapse of the minaret of the Omari mosque in the southern city of Daraa, apparently as a result of shelling by government troops.
The government air strike targeted the village of Hadad in the rebel-dominated northeastern province of Hassakeh. It said several women and children were among those killed in Sunday's attack.
Meanwhile, Jordan is agreeing to lead a Saudi Arabian push to arm Syrian Rebels against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. The idea is to change the balance of power within the rebel groups to diminish the al Qaeda linked groups among them.
