The former spokesman for the Subway chain of sandwich shops is pleading guilty to child sex and pornography charges.  Jared Fogle, who famously overcame morbid obesity on the Subway diet, faces a prison sentence of five- to twelve-years.  Prosecutors were careful to point out that Jared no longer works for Subway and the allegations have nothing to do with the chain or his past involvement.  Rather, Fogle knew that a friend running his charitable foundation was producing child porn and Fogle himself abused child prostitutes while on business trips for the foundation.  Fogle "knows that restitution can't undo the damage that he's done, but he will do all in his power to try to make it right," defense attorney Jeremy Margolis told reporters.

Veteran Australian Actress Maggie Kirkpatrick denied two charges of two charges of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency.  A woman, now an adult, told the Melbourne Court that a TV producer arranged a meeting while she was a teenage patient at a psychiatric hospital in the 1980s; the two went to the actress' home where the alleged abuse took place.  The 74-year old Kirkpatrick is bet known for playing an abusive guard on the soap opera "Prisoner".

The planned release of Oscar Pistorius from prison on Friday is now off.  South Africa's justice minister says the parole board's decision to free the athlete after serving ten months of his five-year sentence was premature and without legal basis.  It will now take months for a formal review of that decision, keeping Pistorius in prison while prosecutors pursue upgrading his conviction to murder for the shooting death of his partner Reeva Steenkamp.

Thai police released a composite image of the man they say carried out this week's Erawan Shrine bombing, and said he's part of a network.  He reportedly spoke a foreign language, not English and not Thai, but the dialect is not identified.  They also said two other people seen near the bomber on video are considered accomplices.  More than 20 people died Monday night when the bomb hidden in a backpack blew up amid a crowd of tourists at the Bangkok landmark.

Turkey is blaming the Kurdish PKK for a highway bombing that killed eight soldiers in the southeastern province of Siirt.  No group has claimed responsibility.

Slovakian officials say the country will only accept Christians and Atheists when it takes in Syrian refugees under the European Union's relocation scheme - no Muslims.  Despite being appallingly intolerant, it apparently could be allowed.  Slovakian officials say it's for the good of the migrants, because there are no mosques in the country - and the country doesn't want any.

Israel is suspending the detention of a Palestinian prisoner who suffered brain damage as a result of his hunger strike.  Mohammed Allan, an attorney and a member of Islamic Jihad, went 65 days without food or water to protest his detention and is currently in hospital.  Israeli authorities initially tried to bargain with him, offering to free him in November if he ended the hunger strike.  Allan has ended his hunger strike, but now faces a difficult road back to health.  Authorities fear that if Allan dies, it will spark violence.

A Reggae music festival in Spain is reinviting the US singer Matisyahu to perform.  Rototom Reggae Sunsplash initially cancelled Matisyahu's appearance in a row over his unstated opinions of the BDS movement to boycott Israeli goods over the treatment of Palestinians.  An outcry from Jewish groups and Reggae lovers followed.  Organizers released a statement saying they "respect the Jewish community and ask for sincere apologies for what happened", and blamed the ruckus on pressure from the local BDS group.
